Hi,Magazine will be on the stands this week, very weird seeing my name in print, a couple of mistakes in the labeling of the photos but not too bad for a first attempt... hope it all reads positive as to be honest I'm getting a little discouraged by the "Passionate"(negative ?) discussions on the forum. I'm still looking in from the outside of the Gyro movement (although I am Joining ASRA in the New Year), and look to the forum as a source of technical and creative information, hopefully as unbiased as possible.I used to own a trike and was very impressed with the build quality ,design and obvious extensive testing from Airbourne, it was the flying characteristics that swayed me away from them.. What I'm looking for now is a gyro with these same BASIC requirements. I dont want to have to worry about learning in a machine that I'm not confident in... The focus of this time for me should be overcoming my own lack of skills, learning and having some fun in the process.I know this doesn't apply to a lot of the flying that is done in OZ, whether for Work or Recreation. It sounds like there are a lot of great pilots out there, and a lot of great machines too. I have neither of these qualities right now but am looking to changing both soonAny suggestions ????...Art...

Hi ArtI was recently in the same "boat".I wanted the quality and professionalism of an Airborne Edge in a machine that was:* safer* more wind tolerant* more manoeuvrable * just plain FUN to flySo, I recently bought a Monarch and couldn't be happier.Quality of components, documentation and product support are all first class.Do yourself a favour and give Mitch a call.David

Art, well written article. Good stuff. I was going to ask you what gyro you would go for after seeing just about everything that is available and all the people you must have talked to. Yet you have posted the same question! My limited offering is to try and figure out what type might suit you first. I guess you've had a ride in quite a few gyros by now? Do you want maximum view or maximum comfort? Like to feel alone in space or need a bit of something around you? Single or dual seats? Power requirements... are you 'Art the giant'? Noise issues might be a factor where you are going to fly and help decide 2 or 4 stoke, not to mention reliability? ...and lets not even discuss budget...[B)] You already say you want quality, I assume both in geometry and build. Sounds good, otherwise you may find yourself trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. [] Interesting exercise and very educational but I can report it is not cost effective and does slow down the flying somewhat. []Dave

Art,Good story! Isnt it funny how when someone writes an article for a Magazine, one goes away from it feeling enthusiastic?A couple of you blokes could take a leaf out of Arthur J Spink's book and apply the same rules here....You know, leaving the reader feeling enthusiastic? If I want to argue with someone who is always right, regardless of her level of experience, I only have to walk as far as the next room and seek out my wife...... but at least here critisisms are always constructive!(at least she thinks so)Art, regardless of which machine you eventually settle on, Im sure you will have stacks more fun flying it than you will sending posts telling other people how much you know.Good article and happy flying.Mark.
