  • Ol mate in TC had a 182 and the engine was due for O/H so as he had spare money he thought he"d buy a New lycoming instead. A hundred or so Hrs. later it bent a push rod on starting up!

      • Is the guide your referring to Russ the tin one or the solid Aluminium Billet one. (or are you back under the coconut tree) I"ve contacted the EU guys by E-mail and they want around $160 landed in au. Don"t care what it costs, just want one. Trouble is they only accept pay-pal. Wouldn"t have a bloody clue how to organise a Pay-pal account?

            • struth max you went about that the bloody hard way, I think your auto electrical trade swayed you a bit stray. it ended being timing belts and tension and timing. I couldn"t help thinking last night [ I was in the shower too, cause I always do my best thinking in the shower ] when your sailing around the world in your yatch with 3 women from 3 different nationaloities, you will have to be careful about diagnosing and your timing then,

                • I won"t bend a push rod on the sailing trip, but I may wear one out ;D I must confess I spent too much time pursuing an electronic fault. All it would of taken was a hint that it could of been a valve timing problem. It should of "clicked" when Waddles did the warning of the belt guide problem.

                        • Well, the modified part just arrived. A little bit of solid billet alloy. (A work of art) Cost me $200 but if that fixes the EJ25 "week point" it"s worth every cent. I was curious as to where it came from so googled the address. Paplaujos gate, Vilnius Lithuania. I am constantly amazed at the technology that can land you in the street outside his workshop. (You spoilt brat young fellows probably don"t understand) Any way i"ve forgotten or maybe never knew the recommended air gap as i"ve not got the gap tool and will have to make one. (What I"m trying to ask is does any-one know the thickness of the EJ25 Gates timing belt clearance tool?) Hang in there and stay safe fellow Gyronauts

                              • Thanks Darrel, I"ll cut up a bit of something 1mm thick. Now that I"m more familiar with the EJ25, I could of removed the Alternator and read the timing marks with a mirror on day one.
