Birdy, sorry I havent rang but getting use of the phone here isnt that easy !!!There's nothing stopping you from putting in nearly whatever you like as long as its properly secured and plumbed into the fuel system !! FW have been doing it all the time eg that guy Norvill I think and a fellow who set many world records in a RV 6 flying alover the place and any aircraft thats ferried from the US out here to Ozz has to have the seats pulled out and fuel cells installed. One fuel thing I happened to see in a C 182 being flown out looked very much like a kids swimming pool. Was obviously a little stronger Brian

Brian, it'll be a symple setup, for this SCG, just an inline tap to gravity feed [ the most reliable pump ever] into the main tank.Sam, you said,"If you set your self up for inflight refuelling, then thats a totally different issue. "Why is this??Ignorance is bliss............but only till you realise you were. You can always get the answer you want, if you ask enough experts.

Birdy the system you are going to use is most reliable, and simple. Most trikes have used it. The problem is its not a perminant and approved method of fuel delivery.I cant give you any legal references, but have herd that its the one thing that they can ping a pilot for.Its only what I have herd birdy, and not gospal, I guess its all about safety.I would suggest speaking to CASA, maybe Mr Mark Rowe, or James Waters.Regards Sam

Renowned ag pilot and local flyboy Ben Buckley flew a Light Wing ultralight from Mallacoota (most south-eastern airport in Victoria) to New Zealand a few years ago using a string of 20L plastic detergent containers that were just sitting beside him assisted only by gravity, and he got there. The Light Wing is still there however as no-one has done the return journey. A funny aside to that adventure is when Ben strapped himself into a survival suit and found in-flight he could not get to his fly for in-flight pee. Eventually had to submit to nature and pee in his suit which was fine until he landed and was met by the local New Zealand Mayor and officials who were there together with local band and marching girls at the airfield to greet him. Ben is a dag and said he was amused by their reaction when he got out of his aircraft and was seen with a big wet patch on his trousers which were wet and dripping. It's the opposite of 's***t happens'. Birdy, you could consider that approach when planning toilet considerations on your trip. Llewella could dress in a 'dancing girl' outfit to greet you on arrival.Pete

Hi Birdy, use the CASA web site. All the regulations are there so that people can get the correct information. Even some CASA guys can accidently give you the wrong information, and unless it is in writing you do not have a leg to stand on if the "you know" what hits the fan. Ignorance apparently is no longer an excuse!!!!Aussie Paul.[]www.firebirdgyros.com

If it,s not against the ASRA rules, why not put in the 65 ltr seattanks as Ken suggested and make them a permanent fixture ?You dont havta run around with them filled all the time and the beauty of them is that you can sit on the buggers and even pick up ahitchiker if they aint real full and she dont weigh too much. ( the hitchiker that is ).I wouldn,t go carrying any drums and landing where CASA is likelyto be !Cheers.Robert DunnMackay. Qld.Growing old is good while it lasts.

And the argument is "no sir they aren't fuel tanks, they are just comfortable seats". "no sir, I didn't know you could put that much fuel in them and are you talking litres or gallons, I always get them mixed up". Best part is the fuel economy David. Mine goes heaps further on 20 gallons, those litres are expensive bastttards. And when you buy 20 gallons the silly fella's seem to give you heaps more. But I must admit in centimetres I've got one thing that is heaps longer. I thought the main question in relation to fitting seat tanks is if they will fit in there. I know several ultra-lighters have been impressed by the plastic seat tanks but their cabins have not been able to accomodate either the 40L or 70L versions.Pete

G,day. If your going to the Nationals be sure ta bring your own first aidkit ana bandaid.Because if you coma gutsa, you likely to be turned away from theemergency hospital units ! Qld Public Health is virtually non existant and getting worse by the day.At Caboulture yesterday there was a fatal car accident outside the hospital but the injured had to be taken to Brisbane because theemergency unit had been shut down the day before. They think Maryborough might remain open but they cant guarrantee it.I think they refer to it as culling the herd. While the premier boasts about his 2 billion dollar budget surplass.Better still fly safe and dont prang, that'll learn him.Robert DunnMackay. Qld.Growing old is good while it lasts.
