Your obviosly not pushn it very hard Brian.A couple o days back i spent bout 45 mins on full tap, for 90% of that time. Min AS, hot, no wind, tight turn circuls at below treetop hight, you tend to leave it on full unless you start to climb coz you been flyn streight for moren 10 secs.[ you gessed it, it wasn't a very happy situation.]Sumthn to consider Dave, reversed airflow ina streight decent is just as dangerous with the same results as a spining one.Its probably not in the manuel coz the authers don't know bout it. Its not a common thing to happen, but the [ usualy bad] results are nearly as common as the encounters.Ignorance is bliss............but only till you realise you were.birdy, here.

The 'big ' 2.2 has that much power that full throttle isnt necessary, even hot and with no wind and down amongst the treesI know well the conditions you describe Birdy, paticularly when the air is dead calm and even S & L requires more throttle and even a mild turn washes more airspeed off than normal. I'm just not game to push the gearbox that hard Birdy as well!!!!BrianPooncarie NSW

Got to be fair, the first box did about 3,000 hours. At 100 hours it cracked the gears and needed new bearings then had a reasonable run till 900 hours when all the insides were replaced ...again..then its been a constant front seal leaking/ replacing at anywhere from 5 hours to two hundred hours. We then started to replace the bearing [on the end of the main shaft coming from the motor] every 250 to 300 hours and that has alleviated the need to replace the gears again but the seal leaking part really got under my skin over the last 300 hours or so till I decided to put a new box on. I got a feeling that this box is going to be okay as I reckon the other box had a fault in it of some description as it was always giving problems. I know of other guys getting good hours out of C boxes and doing nothing to them in between overhauls [2.2's pushing was a RAF ]BrianPooncarie NSW
