Thanks Danny,Temp increase started at about 275 hours.I"m at 600 kgs most takeoffs and with training newbies, a lot of time at full power followed by low power (climbing & descending). Worse on circuit training. 74" Revolution wide cord prop, measured static thrust 710 lbs at 5150 static engine RPM.Just picked up the new bearings and the mob flogs all sorts of Morey"s stuff. Even had a little cog demo machine set up, similar to the Lucas one I"ve seen elsewhere. From the demos, both Moreys and Lucas seem to have the same basic property - it sticks to the gears like s**t to a blanket.Tools still getting made, Viton seals arriving Thursday, assembly starts Friday hopefully.Waddles.

My "then" contact in jap land, sourced them direct from soob factory ( brand spankers new )....engines were COMPLETE minus ECU......brian M sorted ECU"s.I got 5 of them way back, all were allocated to buyers here, but when i chased them for $$$$$ after they arrived here.......you guessed it, pathetic excuses came from 3 of them, so i advertised them for sale elsewhere..........sold the 3 of them in a week or 2.The 2 folks that took delivery, was waddles and myself............swore, i"de never bother again after being left high and dry by 3 folks here.........same contact has a soob diesel in his shed for me ( brand new ) still in jap land...........cost me $3600checked my records.........those ej25;s, cost $2100 each........landed brisbane

Deesel in a soob!!!!! Mmmmmm. Maybe trying to keep the engine cooler????Tony. Still researching and need an expert opinion from Darren if possible please.Googled castrol syntran and came up with this link http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/bp...ans_B13127.pdfIt would seem that the Syntran 75W90 has been superceded with Syntrans M 75W80. Can"t find a reference to the first mentioned anywhere. The blurb on the above link says it"s all I need, but ........ Viscosity at 100*C is the same as the Syntran 75W90 and the alleged service life (400,000 ks) sounds good. What do you think Darren? Oh. SAE rating is GL4.Only problem, local supplier doesn"t stock it so will contact Castrol direct for distributors. Even Russy can"t find it in the megametropolis where he lives!!That"s where I"m up to. Yeah. Just spoke with Castrol direct. 20 litres or 200 litres thats all. 20 l from a supplier was $433.00So, if we decide to use this product it might be better to try to source a truck or machinery operator that uses it and front up with an empty milk bottle and try to buy it that way.Anyone out there know of any such operators please? Preferably close to home.Otherwise, will have to start googling for another option. It"s so much fun!!!!Waddles.

That"s just Russy, Tony.Next episode ..... Had so much fun googling and getting the runaround, I bit the bullet and went to the local independent oil distributor. Russ is correct (for once). He had drums of the new heavy duty stuff that replaces the syntran M. Even said so on the label. He recommended Syntrans 75W85 which I recalled was on the data sheet that is on a previous post. Checked it out and it seems that the main diff is in the viscosity which is around 11 compared to the 18 for the M. Read it for yourselves. Is this an option? Probably, and it comes in 1lt bottles. So another opinion from Darren would be good if he has the time. In the meantime, I have the bearings and seals now so hopefully, reassembly tomorrow PM.Stay tuned.Waddles.

Tony ol chum...........many yrs back i bumped into a poor soul, he needed guidance, he needed support, in a nut shell........he needed me ;DSo me being a me........i took ol Al under me wing. We began slowly, didn"t want to scare him, it was a challenge, him being some sort of flying coffin pilot, and breathing all that skinny air for all those yrs.......it took it"s toll on him........he was "damaged" ;D........So...........the ol Al we have today is actually .....the "new Al"He still has a way to go..........he"s too generous to folks, he get"s taken advantage of as a consequence, 2nd major problem to sort.........he "home brews" this amber coloured liquid, and consuming vast amounts disguised as "quality control" must be addressed, just recently he announced he was to become a "vegan".......i"m looking for my dictionary to see what that means........i have a feeling it"s not going to be pretty. ( another problem for russy to sort )Could be more worserer........he could"ve got the "call" to become

Good luck and bad luck.Box rebuilt on Saturday and fitted on Sunday. Unfortunately, one of the lower mounting bolts appeared to have been shorter than it should and managed to strip out the crankcase threads.Repaired today with longer bolt and locknut.Initial ground run on Sunday looked promising with no leaks anywhere and no temp rise at all. Not working hard I guess.Flew this morning. OAT 30*C. Flat out climb to 2500" then settled down into a pattern around the strip. After 15 mins from startup, the oil temp had settled down at 77*C. Engine temp 80*C. They didn"t move until power off for descent when both decreased as expected. So, I"m happy. One thing noted during the rebuild. The double row replacement bearings on the output shaft had double the number of balls as those they replaced! Numbers exactly the same but different manufacturers. Don"t know why. My logic tells me that these should have a higher load capability than the originals. Thanks again for all the help this thread has afforded me and hopefully, some others too.Parts cost $230 including the Viton seals and Rod is prepared to do overhauls if required. The tooling he made works very well.Hopefully, the end of the saga.Regards,Waddles.
