Max,put a picture on your desktop, and call it AAAA so it is easy to find. On a Mac so a Get Info to see if the pic is small enough (less than 1024 KB)Now click to reply to a message. Bottom left of the screen is "Additional Options". Click that. Next to Attach click "choose file" go to your desktop and click on the pic. It is now attached and will load as soon as you click "post"Graham

Max I was just putting the email together and noticed some anomalies. The engine is from a 2004 Subaru wagon but the ECU is from a 1995-6 subaru. Is this correct?Which means that the original ECU is not being used on your engine for your gyro?"The part no. is 22611 AB640

It"s a standard 22611 - AB640 ECU from subaru 1995-6 model as recommended by bryne. It has been working perfect for 4 hrs. (half hr. flights) It is used in conjunction with 22680 - AA160 5 pin mass air sensor off same vehicle. As far as I know Russ, Waddles and others are using the same system.

Thanks Max.Svein in Norway is not going to have any idea who Brian Malony is or of his systems.I am going to need cold hard facts for him. This guy is very senior and I don"t even want to mention that this engine is being used in an aviation role.I have 3 questions I just need 4 yes/no answers.1)Your engine is a 2004 EJ25 from a wagon?2)You are using a 1995 - 6 ECU part number 22611 AB640

I had a bit to do with Bryan and his EJ engines. He always preferred a mid 2000s engine with the mid 90s computer. Don"t know why really. He never messed with the mapping.I have 300 hours on mine now with no hiccups at all. Another couple down here bought a machine from Rob P that he was building in conjunction with Bryan. It had a EL20 fitted and went well for a while, but then developed problems. Not the same a Max, but .... It turned out to be a non-compatability between the computer and the speed signal generator circuit. Both were changed to fix the problem. Not sure if this helps.Waddles.

Thanks Waddles. You may have seen my request for Max to do a signal check on the Crank position indicator which I suspect is your reference to the speed signal generator. The other instinct is that the comparability between the ECU and the original injectors may be at issue. I really am at a disadvantage not having the kit in front of me but I"m sure that Max can be talked through what I need to know.Regards......Chook.

Thanks for the further advise fellow gyronaughts. The engine has done 4 hrs trouble free Russ. Yes Chook, the ECU and mass air sensor is from a 95-96 wagon. My next challenge shall be to photograph the oscilloscope double patterns and feed the image into the computer. (you guys will make me into a nurd yet) Luckly my trainer is still going so I"m staying sane. The reason why we love to fly is:

Max you old romantic your CRO has the ability to capture those waveshapes internally.I have not got time at the moment but it is in the manual on how to do it and just transfer those files to your computer. The important thing is recording what each waveshape refers to. eg Ch 1 attached to injector #3, Ch 2 attached to injector #4 etc.Chook.

Yes Chook, The engine is an ej25 and it"s not the original ECU for that engine. I was unable to get ch. 2 to make sense, but I now have two photos, one of the u/s no 4 circuit and one of the good no 1 circuit. Both patterns taken from channel 1 - Yes Russ, poems regularly pop into my head. I believe there is more to consciousness than our brain boxes. I believe consciousness is everything, and the physical dimensions are a product of consciousness. (everything is linked) So when we die we "go home" I"ll now try to feed the images into this "magic box" --- Half hr. later --- I"ve worked out how to put images onto the computer, and can easily put them on Facebook but the forum is more difficult. Will try again later.

Chook,The speed signal generator is the one that tells the ECU that the vehicle is moving. Originally fitted to the car gearbox, at least on my front chop it was. Without that signal, the engine will not run above a certain RPM for any significant period of time. It goes into limp home mode, which is basically idle. It can be reset by turning the ignition off then back to on, but the sequence starts again. From memory the signal required is a straight out 5 volt square wave. As soon as the system is powered up, the ECU thinks the vehicle is moving and all is OK. Waddles.
