Better to be embarassed, than to misrepresent. I have said to US colleagues on a recent trip to the States, that we have more instructors than they do. Talk about embarrased. How about posting an updated version here, whilst the topic is hot, rather than wait for the next gyro news?Mitch.www.thebutterflyllc.comA thinker sees his own actions as experiments and questions--as attempts to find out something. WHY they are not prepared to do it???Because from the outside looking in i havent seen any type of insentive to start training if anything it is red tape that you see, and i have talked to a couple of guys why used to and still are training, and they are sick off it, it appears the ASRA is trying to self destruct, by over regulating the very people they SHOULD be trying to help.r0t0rcraft.com.au

Hi Mark and others. There are many reasons why there isn't enough training around Aus. One fundamental missing component is the lack of two seat training machines, without giving too much away at this stage I have outlined many other reasons for this which hopefully will make the next Gyro News.Jeff H-S

Thanks Jeff, but why not throw it on here now while the ideas is runnning hot, and the ideas are fresh, we may be able to come up with a possible solution to the problem in real time, ie instead of waiting for the next mag to come out, then getting around to it..Markr0t0rcraft.com.au

Walter, thank you for putting it in clear english what my next post on this subject was going to be along the lines of,as you said WHY would anyone take this on, there is no help from the organisation that these people are supporting by teaching people to fly, and in turn then become members ect.r0t0rcraft.com.au

Gentlemen,I hate repeating myself, however, instead of just "having a go" at the ASRA Board on a world wide forum I would suggest that you "grow the balls" and extend them the "courtesy" by Emailing or phoning the President (of whom the members voted for) and then let him liaison with the board of the grievances that you wish to have sorted out, if there "is" no reply in a reasonable time, (and this is open to interpretation), then by all means make your views public on the forum. As can be appreciated, I have no idea if people have already been down this track, if they have not, then I would advocate the above courtesy approach, all the best,Pete Barsden

mabee a fella not far from an airport [for students to travel] and a strip or opportunity for one out of the way, could look at buyin a trainer and chargin acordingly. after all hourly rate of instruction is fairly low compared to a gyro. would $200 an hour be too much if a flight to tounsville from brissie is only that?only one fella i know of with the time to do this and that could fit it in with bovine mobilisation!!!

Pete,You said it! You have no idea what members are doing privately by email or phone.Members using a members forum (as in a forum for members to use)...why dont you extend to them the same curtesy that you request of them for the board. "Grow some balls" Ooouch! And on a world wide forum too.Birdy I reckon you can see how many different ideas and approaches to this training dilema are surfacing. Perhaps we could have a collective brain storming session at Biggenden. I have heard a whisper that there may be another instructor looking to setup a 'school' on the East Coast. ( I could advise privately by email or phone and you could approach him.)Personally, I think we need all aforementioned approaches, as Pete suggests, grass roots club level with members building a trainer, with instructors available right through to supporting instructors who setup 'schools' whether mobile or fixed location.Certainly is a well read thread with good participation. For the record, I believe the Board, its Officers and Volunteers, collectively do a fantastic job on behalf of the members.[]Mitch.www.thebutterflyllc.comA thinker sees his own actions as experiments and questions--as attempts to find out something.
